Driveshaft/pinion angle?
Hey yall! So I've got a 2011 F150 FX2. I had a 4 inch Rough Country lift and it rode horrible because because of the strut spacers. So I decided to convert it to a 6 inch lift by installing the 5.5inch rear lift blocks and the 6 inch lift struts, hoping that the lift struts would make for a smoother ride by ditching the spacers. It worked, but only partially. I now have this vibration constantly and something just feels wrong. And at 35-40mph and in 5th gear, there is this weird rumbling feeling and vibration that I can almost hear. So my first thought was driveshaft angle and it definitley is at a sharp angle now. But the RC lift for 2wd does not come with (or even require according to RC techs) a driveshaft spacer. I can see that my pinion is not at an angle, which is causing the joints to connect at a sharp angle.
My only thought is maybe I put the lift blocks on backwards, but from videos on YouTube, I think it looks right. Also my leaf springs look odd. They angle down towards the front of the truck now. I'm completely stumped Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
Driveshaft/pinion angle after lifting?

A 6 inch lift only comes with 4 inch rear blocks. You are 1 1/2 inches over that. Lifts take out the rake our tricks have.

A 2WD and 4WD block would be the same so I doubt that's the problem. Is it a tapered block? If so, the taller side of the block goes to the rear. If not, you need one, making sure when installing it you put the taller in towards the rear of the truck.

You need to adjust the angle of the axle to straighten out that driveshaft ujoint, keeping in mind there is also an angle at the transmission to consider for a one piece shaft, and at the union for the two piece shaft. A proper spacer should have the angles already built in.

Aespos, I think you may be the same guy that was messaging me on my Youtube channel. If so, we have the same setup, with the exception that my truck is 4wd and yours is 2wd.
Have you called Rough Country to ask if the driveshaft spacer is required for 2wd lift? As I stated earlier, my truck does have the spacer and it was included with the 4" lift. As for the RC 5.5" lift block, I believe they are directional, if installed backwards, they could cause a bad driveline angle. Also, do you have a single rear driveshaft, or the split rear type? In my truck I have absolutely no such vibrations. |
How big of blocks are on there ? Shocks are upside down too. Looks like you could have some axle warp...
