Default Coolant level

This question has to have already been asked. I just had a Ford service tech tell me that the level of coolant in the reserve tank should be just above the min line. I know some of you fill it up to the max line. I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm what the Ford tech told me? I thought it was leaking.

Filled to just above the minimum sounds right. Because the level goes up when the engine warms up I would not fill it to the max line.

Just like oil level, if it is just above the minimum line you shouldn't add oil to get it to the max line.

Does it slowly lose coolant but has no leaks? Mine was doing that when I got it, turned out to be the pressure cap was holding exactly no pressure at all.

Get a new one. $5 for the best head gasket insurance there is.

@Eric - Ford service center put a new cap on the second time I went in. I thought it was still leaking after that. I found out they only fill the reserve tank just above the "min" line. I'll keep my eye on it.
