Coolant ‘dissapearing’
Hi all,
I have a 2011 f150 5.0 FX4 I filled my coolant up to the required line. I went for a drive that totaled 10 kms/6 miles. I checked my coolant reservoir after the drive and it had gone down. No heat either.
I checked all the hoses that come out of the reservoir and none of them are wet.
I checked the exhaust while driving and no white smoke.
Any ideas as to whats going on. A year ago Ford replaced some rad fittings and a hose as it was leaking. Could it be the hose and fitting burst again in a year?

I JUST CHEcked all the hoses fromthe rad tothe engine and same from the reservoir to the engine and no wetness. But the coolant went down more from the 15 minutes of sitting. Approximately 2 inches in the reservoir

Could be it's just working like it's supposed to. Goes up when the engine is hot, goes down when the engine cools. You need to check it over several days, at the same temperature, when it's cold. If it was empty when you first added coolant you probably had air in the engine. The coolant replaced the air, like it's designed to do. Air gets pushed out, coolant gets sucked back in. Might take a few hot/cold cycles before it gets all the air out.
