Default Cleaning EGR and/or intake manifold

Hi All,

Should it be routine maintenance to clean the intake manifold?

Also, do ecoboosts have EGR valves? If so, should they be cleaned as routine maintenance?

I wouldn't clean those unless there was an actual problem.

Read the maintenance schedule in/with the owner's manual.

A risk I am willing to take.

I would be willing to clean them if they are dirty.

I'd like to resurrect this thread to post an example of what I'm talking about:

It seems reasonable that F150s with EGR would behave similarly, and cleaning the EGR system would be prudent.

No, they're not that similar. So after reading your truck's maintenance schedule, what does it say about cleaning the intake?

Why are they not similar?

(I have read the trucks maintenance schedule, so insisting I read it makes me think you aren’t engaging this conversation successfully. My goals maybe different than Fords, and therefore I may or may not wish to follow their maintenance schedule.)
