I just ran a p0305 cylinder 5 misfire and when I took out the coil, there was coolant in the well. Maybe it was the intake gaskets

What can be done about the intake gaskets? Does it mean they need to be replaced? or is it just a defect and I have to dry out the spark plug well regularly?

If you have a plastic upper intake and aluminum lower (covered by the air Plenum) then you probably need to replace the upper intake and gasket. They commonly leak at the front right and left corners. Right side is where the heater hose comes off and the left is the thermostat housing and upper radiator hose. Leaks and can run into number 1 and 5 cylinder among other places. Give that a look. Costs about $185 for the upper intake w/gasket and all you have to do is dismantle most of the top half of your engine to get it off. Not too bad actually. Good luck!

thanks for the input. Replace it with any plastic upper intake? I looked on autozone and they are all edelbrock. I would just call AZ and ask but I want to make sure i'm asking for the right part.

Hi, I have the same issue as in your post. #6 sparkplug pooling coolant. Did you find out what the problem was? My instinct points to cracked head but I want to be wrong.

There is no evidence of coolant seeping from thermo area. #5 cyl is right next to it and it is dry. I cut off a portion of the plug boot to sink it deeper into the sparkplug well. No pooling on top of the boot seal, pooling and rust built up below it only. Sooooo where is it coming from? cracked head?

Also- brown foam in the oil filler well. 184.000 miles on the motor. I think I got my money's worth out of it. Would like to get more out of it tho.

Trace the hose back to the front of the motor and put a piece of hose between the two connection points. Another thought is the location you all are talking about right below the PCV valve. If the PCV valve is heated there can be a leak in the small hoses or the steel loop around the valve.

Default Hose Kit?

Does anybody put together a hose kit for all the small vaccum & coolant hoses along the fire wall?
