94 f150 will crank but won't stay running

Haynes has a basic explanation of how to do those tests - the captions I linked you to above contain the FULL procedure from the Ford service manuals. Did you read them?
Yes, if you don't understand what a code definition means, post the code number AND the complete definition for EACH code you read. DO NOT start ordering parts just because they happen to be mentioned in a code definition, and don't start pulling parts off the truck, or disturbing the wiring. Messing with it can cause the fault to become intermittent, which makes it MUCH harder to pinpoint. But the first step for any code is to confirm that the indicated condition actually exists.

That would be exceptionally unlikely, but not impossible. Most '94-up EECs use the newer style capacitor which doesn't leak like the style (electrolytic) shown here:

Ok I knew about those leaking, what I'm saying is can you give me an idea of what this issue would be then? Cause obviously if I can't get codes then my computer is trash, or do you th I.k it's something else cause Idk what else would make it not read codes
update: I woke up this morning and tried the self test again it worked for aa min but gave me a code for 116 which is coolant temp sensor out of test range and 616 which isn't even a code for my truck. Of course the last code was also interrupted by the fuel pump and relay and everything was flickering and messing up on my dash. Lights didn't seem or anything else but the usual. Which means my computer will test sometimes but isn't very effective or seem to even.give me codes worth anything.

I'm sorry, I'm usually at work I'll send pics just tell me what you need to see. something is draining my battery so i looked around. couldn't use a scanner because it was like that. so I have decide to do this I am buying a new battery cable and cleaning grounds. I have also taken my alternator off to take to be tested. The battery cable had corrosion threw it. Spark plugs and wires, one was Burnt bad. Distributor cap and rotor cause mine had corrosion, I cleaned off but wouldn't hurt for some new ones. Basic things the truck needs and couldnt hurt to try. Anything you want to ask or that you recommend before I go.
