92 ford 150 tranny manual 4speed+overdrive
ok I got a problem I serviced my tranny fluid and well it did it before, but now it is a little worse when I shift into 2nd my tranny grinds. I was wondering what could be the problem. I don't know too much about fords and any help would be nice. all the other gears don't grind, it is only when I go into second gear. and also when I let the rpms drop it won't be as bad or it won't happen at all. just asking what should I fix or what is the problem. thanks

Correct fluid type?
Clutch adjusted correctly? I think with slave cylinders, the recommendation is to occasionally pull up on the pedal, then go to the floor with it full stroke to adjust.
Worn synchronizers - maybe try to pause slightly between gears when shifting.

when I pause between shifts or wait for the engine rpms to go down then it won't grind like you said, also I filled the tranny with 80w fluid like the haynes manual said and I filled it until it came out. so I'll just drive it and then refill it maybe that will help. any other ideas

My truck does the same thing. I just bought it 2 weeks ago and did not notice it on the test drive. It will grind if I go from 1st to second at any speed over a crawl. If I move the shifter right after pulling it out of 1st and then go into 2nd, it will not grind. (96 F150 5.0 5 speed manual 174,000 miles)

...same problem
couple weeks before i got the tranny changed in my 99 F-250 LD... it was shifting hard into second also and sometimes third... had the fluid changed at the local grease shop... couple days later i fired the beast drove about twenty feet and the beast died.....I pulled the tranny fluid dip stick and nothing read on the stick...(check your dip stick btw) .... anyway the tranny went out and the shop rebuild the whole trans mission, torque converter, clutch ..everything....if i remember right the rebuild cost around $1500 to $2000.. let us know what happens , GL
