2022 Lariat Skid Plate
There is a flimsy skid plate or guard that is under my truck directly between the driver door and front passenger door. It feels like it is made of some sort of plastic or i liken it to almost card board. It doesn't feel too durable. A corner of mine has broken off near the bolt that holds it on and is hanging. What is this thing called and where can I order a new one? I have a 2022 Lariat.
Bruno82,
It is a splash guard as well as a stream-liner for undercarriage airflow (= .002 MPG savings). Most call it a diaper due to the look. Recycled tire fibers is the material. My 2020 gave loose at the corner too. I beefed-up mine with a piece of aluminum window frame channel glued and screwed to the East-West (bow shape is at 6 o'clock). This stiffens the sag. Channel should extend from bolt-to-bolt. Fixed mine in 2021; still going @ 47,000 miles. Nay-sayers will scoff the usefulness of the shield, I don't mind the mud/snow protection it offers. It is definitely not a "skid plate", though.
