2018 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost Engine Oil Capacity
Was there validation that the work order completion of 5 quarts, was the actual amount of oil that was changed? Could the mechanic have drained and refilled with 6 quarts and the representative paper work amount indicated 5 quarts incorrectly?
To do as described only changing 5 quarts with dip stick indicating 6 quart nominal range, would require the mechanic to shove and screw in the drain plug while oil was still draining at a good rate from the pan.
Oil change procedures are not an exact fluid extraction and replacement operating down to the fluid ounce or milli-liter. This why there's a dip stick provided with the nominal minimum and maximum range. This is what the manufacture provides as the guide to maintain proper oil level at all times, including immediately after an oil change, or at 10k miles before an oil change or anytime between.
As far as oil changes go, apply only two of the following descriptors as an indicator of the result: Fast, Quality, Cheap

You don't actually think that's a real possibility, do you?You knew that from the beginning. Posting here won't get it fixed. Call the dealership (ask for the warranty claims rep/dept.) or Ford national CS, as I said before.

I guess there could be hypothetical situations. All I can tell you is that they told me that the amount of engine oil is pret-set by the parts department when using bulk oil. Also that my copy of the service ticket stated that 5 quarts were put in which the dipstick indicated. There's no way they could have put 6 quarts in as low as the oil level was on the dipstick.
Amazed further that if the true was with the oil level showing on 1/3 of the hash marks above the minimum mark, purchasing a quart of oil, inserting 4 to 8 ounces of oil to hit the middle point of the hashes would cure the travesty in about 15 minutes this includes going to the parts store if you don't have any oil on-hand.
You keep stating they put in 5 quarts, no one knows that for certain. They might not have change the oil at all, they might have not removed the old oil filter. There's no way to tell what they did. If you were to now put in an additional quart with the dip stick indicating 1/3 on the hashes from the min mark, the oil level would indicate past the max mark.
Plenty of undercover media investigations into quick oil change services and shenanigans that goes on, you results may vary.

Amazed how one can extrapolate they only put in 5 quarts with only anecdotal statements from the dealer. After the fact there is no way to to determine exactly what and how much made it into your crank case. One can go around and round with the dealer over a free oil change. Likely won't solve anything, nor get them overly enthused about working on your truck.

I have been a mechanic for almost a decade now and know that there is now way to get all the oil out of an engine. There are oil thermostats now to control engine temperature and with the amount of oil galleries and and the top end and oil pump where oil can rest it is impossible to get the total oil capacity out of a vehicle. Your oil 1/3 above the mark is the ideal place for your oil level to sit. You want it to be as close to the middle of the hash marks as possible as to much oil causes engine failure and to little will as well. The hash marks make up an area of error as if there was only one line to reach it would be impossible for anyone to hit it. I work on class 6-8 vehicles and the max mark is there to say that is it no more. And the minimum is there to say below please add. The vehicles I work on take anywhere between 42-56 litres of oil and you would never actually put that in it unless you replaced the engine. Usually for a 42 litre capacity engine we would.put in 36 and your bang on the money. For 56 litre engine its somewhere between 42-45 litres. Your owner's manual will state the total capacity of the engine not the capacity for an oil change as it depends on oil temperature and the amount you were able to remove from the engine. The idea is to get as close to possible to the middle of them hash marks.
