2016 ecoboost 3.5 blown engine ford is not helping
Hi,
Three weeks ago my engine blew on my 2016 ecoboost. Took it it to Ford for repairs who found #3 cylinder in pieces. They also said they found metal parts in oil pan and shredded oil filter. The truck only has 33000 miles on it. Ford does all of the service yet they will only replace the short block and one cylinder. Anyone agree with me it should have a entire long block including turbos? I ask because the truck had metal parts running about the entire engine. Maybe this is a sign to move on to the new Chevy. Seems like ford is not interested in making things right. Please let me know if anyone has had this issue.

A short block is the entire engine less the heads and other bolt on items that would also be reused even with a long block replacement.

Why should Ford replace the turbos, they're not blown up.

I'm not sure what you mean by only replacing 1 cylinder. The short block contains all 6 cylinders. Is it posible you meant to say short block and one cylinder HEAD?
A 2016 with only 33k on the ticker should be covered under mfgr warranty. I'm sure if they get in there and find other damage, turbos, etc, they will replace as necc.

Sorry yes cylinder head. My biggest concern is they dont dig deep enough and two months from now I'm back with something else wrong that they overlooked and didn't replace. Its mainly the incovinice of not having a truck for almost a month. Sure warranty covers this but still not good.

What makes you think Chevy would do it any differently, manufacturers will only replace what is bad and will not just give you a new engine.
I would want to know what failed and why also.

Basically fed up with the lack of customer service. It's likely the same anywhere you go. I doubt they will be able to tell me why it failed that requires effort.

You should give them a chance. I'm sure that kind of catastrophic failure is not something your dealer sees on a regular basis. Especially in such a new, low mileage vehicle. Your warranty will cover the repair and I'm sure they will check all related components while doing it. No tech wants a "comeback", especially one that large.
Down time may be an issue but you could request a loaner truck and they will probably grant you one. All the more reason for them to finish the repair in a timely manner. I understand your frustration but you have to understand that they (the dealer AND Ford) have certain protocol they need to follow with such a large warranty repair.
Look at it this way. You're going to get a whole new bottom end out of it!
Hope it all works out well for you!
