Default 2015 F150 5.0 in the shop...

Hello everybody. My name is Brian and I have a 2015 150 FX4 in Caribou, which turned out to be my new favorite color. I think the 5.0 is a great engine, but these 6 speed tranny's are not my favorite. I have had the 4th gear hard-downshifting problem since I bought the thing (especially in BOTH modes), and today the wrench light came on and the truck wouldn't shift out of higher gear after coming to a stop, UNTIL I started accelerating again. So, needless to say it's now being diagnosed at the dealership. It also has the old "bump" feeling at a stop which I have read has been an issue with previous years.

Anywho, if you have some knowledge or experience with your 2015 in this regard let me know. I will keep you posted on the diagnoses...

Just heard back. The wrench disappeared and didn't leave a code... hmm. With this being my work truck, I don't have much of an option except to drive it until it blows out. The dealer hasn't seen any of these newer F150's with problems, so the guinea pig experiment begins with mine. Quite the experience for my first new truck purchase. I'll update this post as the problem progresses.

Did they do the TSB on the transmission?

Why not? It makes the transmission shift much nicer besides fixing the 5~4 clunk.

It was going to be a 2-3 day wait for their guy to get to it and they didn't have a loaner for me, so I will have make an appointment and take it back in. I assume it made a difference with yours?

I am getting the TSB done next Monday. Finally talked to the right guy down at my dealer who knew what I was talking about. Looking forward to it, however from what I can gather I have the solenoid problem as well. We'll see.

UPDATE

Alright, so it's been over a week with the updated programming on the tranny, and I truly do enjoy driving my truck again. No more slamming into 4th gear, and overall it shifts smooth again. I HIGHLY recommend the update!
