2013 F-150 5.0, 4x4 LOUD rattle at times
Ok so this is my work truck. Was put in this truck on Monday. Drove it home, and noticed that sometimes when accelerating I heard what I thought was fluid circulating through the heater core. Well, this was with the windows up. Had the window down and it is a loud rattle I was hearing. It does not do it during idle, even if I rev the engine. It did not do it while loading the engine with it in drive, with my foot on the brake, while applying throttle. It almost sounds like a loose heat shield but I have checked them and they seem gtg. I have had no dash light, and it cannot be "felt" in the pedal or steering wheel, performance is fine. It's going into the shop as soon as we get back in town, but I'm real curious about this. It's very metallic and does not sound deep at all. It is intermittent, and the truck has 81k on it, fleet maintenance performed but is a recent purchase for my company. Any help is appreciated!

See if you can get it to rattle in park. I was hearing on my recent used purchased 2013 an when I put my foot on the exhaust pipe it went away. Was very intermittent and went away when it warmed up. I was pretty worried until pressure on the tailpipe made it go away.

Had the same problem.. 1000 RPM under load. if you look where the two headers join together you will see a heat shield about 4 inches wide 20 inches long. Spot weld on one side was gone. A two inch clamp and she is quiet as a mouse. Had the rattle for about a year and finally found it.
