2012 5.0 whistle noise under acceleration
#11
Nope I just checked everything and it is 100 percent stock , I did happen to find a couple aluminum shavings in my coolant which leads me to believe the water pump is going . I have heard that this is a common problem too . Especially on the mustangs . Maybe this is where the noise is coming from .

So the tech drove 8 miles and didn't hear it, but did a deep dive and checked a bunch of stuff. No joy. I rode with the service manager and he said his EcoBoost does the same thing and it's the turbo charger. I told him its a V8 and he said ahhh yeah that's strange. I will say its a very faint whistle so it can be difficult to hear at times.
Anyway, they said bring it back after the weekend and they'll keep searching. I took it upon myself to try cleaning throttle body with no luck and the truck only has 1,000 miles on it.
SO... I'm touching things under the hood and notice my air box lid isn't latched down too well. It actually takes some force to get the male teeth of the lid into the female part of the base. I haven't tested it, but that might be the answer....

I took the air intake off mine just to look at and it has alot of raised bumps that if you run your finger over make that noise cant say for sure that's it but logic says if onl tu the 5.0 has this problem than it's not transmission related
