2006 sparkplug groundstrap broke off
2006 f150 lariat, 5.4 3v triton. So had a misfire on cylinder 7. Same cylinder that a week prior had a loose plug that I tightened. Go to take the plug out and the very end is broken off and I guess is sitting on the top of the piston.
I can take a light and see the top of the piston but not the groundstrap. Now of the porcelain is broken, just the pice that extends over the end of the porcelain piece. Do I have any options or am I screwed????(head removal)

Just tried the magnet and can't seem to connect with anything. I took the old plug and tried seeing if the bottom part that remains is magnetic and it doesn't seem to be. Are they a different materials?

I thought it was made of platinum and that is magnetic. Hmm you may need to use a claw tool like this. .

What about somehow rigging up a thin flexible tube to a shop vac. I don't know, just a shot in the dark! Good luck!

Tried the vacuum with no luck. I took a borescope and looked in there. To my suprise nothing is in there! The only place it could have gone was out the exhaust valve.
Probably not the smartest thing to do but I put the new plug and coil pack in and fired it up. Seems to run smoothly now. I was worried about a bent valve but so far so good.
actually looking at the broken plug, it has soot and carbon on the broken edge. If I had broken it taking it off then it would be clean metal. So it had to have broken prior to removal of the old plug. Which means the damage to cylinder or valve would already been done.
