I have a 1993 F-150 2wd, 5 speed manual, I6 engine with 150k miles on it. I just had the clutch replaced by a local mechanic about 4 months ago. I am now having an issue shifting. There is a lot of slop in the shifter. I can move it side to side about 6 to 8 inches while in gear. It is making it very hard to find gears (especially 3rd). Once I can find the gear it goes in fine and there are no problems. Would this be a shifting linkage or something internal to the engine? If it is an easy fix how would I go about fixing it.
