Default 06 no 4wd or light

Just bought an 06 F150 when I switch it to 4wd it doesn't engage I don't hear anything anything clicking nor does the 4wd light in the instrument cluster illuminate how do I diagnose this?? Where do I start

can you tell if the front hubs lock in? I know shift motors were not all that uncommon on those

is your transfer case manual shift or switch?

I test drove one that did the same thing. The dash switch was loose. Reach up behind there and make sure it is plugged in.

pull codes, could be vacuum solenoid or shift motor, they are most common.
