It sounds like the spark plug hole in the head is packed with carbon and damaging the spark plug tip goind down thru it to seat. If the plug broke originally, you need to decarbon the hole before putting a new plug down thru there. The tip is easily damaged as it is a 2 piece spark plug ( the metal part ). I would look to that area and if not pull the head before deciding to go the Jasper (Good Quality Motor ) Rebuild. That said, I don't have the facts on the motor, combustion quality, compression, vacuum, oil PSI or oil consumption. OBD II readings ect. So many people suffer the same fate you have when tuning up the 5.4. Spark plugs are tempermental like women. Just my thoughts.

Well said.. I'm being told by the mechanic that the intake gasket was bad and it leaned out the 4th cylinder and from the engine running the injectors were dumping raw fuel causing damage to the rings and he's just telling me that by the time he pulls the heads and the labor + parts i'd be better off getting a new motor. I know him personally and he said he can give me the motor at cost $2800 and $1000 labor so its almost worth it for me to do that..

You got a nice rig, it's worth the investment. Good F150 after the doctoring. If it is a good block it is worth a core charge refund also. Dont cheapen it by ignoring the water pump. Just my thoughts

No definately, If im going to be putting out the money for the new motor, anything else that isnt new is going to be replaced.. because I dont want to have this happen again. I'm going to replace the manifolds too because those arent in the best of shape either.

OK, sounds right. Your core might be $500. But he might be figuring that in with the price.

Well I work for Napa and the Iron Clad engine I can get through them ended up being around $700 cheaper with my discount so I'm going to be doing that... the warranty etc. was the same anyways and it'll probably be easier if there is a warranty issue that way anyways... Should have the truck on the road again late next week..

Good to hear it. Keep in mind the carbon on the plug issue and keep those plug holes clean and free of carbon. It will always damage a new plug. They are as whimsical as a women sometime. Most swear by the Motocraft plugs too. A misfire spark plug overheats the Cop and it fails.
