Thank you for the input. I was kind of thinking they should read the same.Have you seen the VCT solenoids fail without throwing codes or is the drivecycle for initiating that code pretty far? I have not really driven the truckanywhere as not to cause any more damage. Should I start with a VCT solenoid orjust rip it down and quit throwing parts at it?

I would check compression on the weak side. UR spark plugs are out then and in good shape or not? If good I would unhook the exhaust and see if the miss is gone. U can drill a hole and check back pressure first. Ur going to replace it anyway if U have clogged catz. All kinds of noise is associated with timing chain problems. I would look for bad electrical connections, maybe even at ECU. The compression test and vacuum test are fundamental diagnostic tools much needed before any tear down to follow. Keep good records. A volt meter clamped around the electrical wires will tell U if U have good continuity thru the electrical wires. UR problem may come down to fuel injection not mechanical. Did U have a noticable fall in gas mileage before the event ? Then leaking injector would have caused all UR grief.

Update. Replace VCT solenoids, no change. Took it to a shop, all mechanical compression testing passed. No codes. Still missing. Technician checked injector pulse with node lights, compression, back pressure (gauge jumped but did not go into red area), all plugs and coils. he then took it to a specialist who put it on a scope and came to the conclusion there was low compression on a few cylinders. I am having a hard time believe this as while I was driving it to the his shop the truck stopped missing for a few miles. I am running out of ideas. The technician told me to rip down the motor but I am not 100% convinced that is what it needs. Any further suggestions? Motor makes no rattling for any other sound from the front end. Would the timing components breaking cause some noise from the chain slapping around?

Hey what's going on man sorry for not logging on in so long yes broken guides from the timing chain would cause it to have problems if you do a timing job on it the parts should not be that expensive a cloyes timing set from like Oreilly or autozone should run you no more than like 300$ and there's no reason to buy the cam phasers that's just a waste of money
