03 F150 not starting Mechanic has no idea
I recently bought this 03 f150. Everything looked gold and my local mechanic found no issue.
Yesterday it had been sitting for about 3 hours. It started fine. I drove it 6 minutes, and stopped to give an estimate. 40 minutes later it would not start. Gauge showed 1/4 of a tank. Battery seemed fine, and did not respond to a jump.
Had it towed to my mechanic. 2 hours later as an after thought I bought a 1.25 gas can and added maybe 1/2 a gallon. It started up.
Mexhanic checked it out again. Still couldnt find anything wrong. Couldnt replicate the problem. Gauge now showed just under 1/2 a thank.
Drove it home, and parked on a hill with the front end on the down slope. Loaded some tools in. 10 min later it would not start again. I added whatever was left from the gas can and it started immediately.
Went to the closest gas station and filled it up. 14.75 gallons before the pump clicked off. Should have had plenty of gas.
Any idea whats going on? Possible it has nothing to do with the gas tank?

Or a bad tank pickup.

You need fuel, spark, compression and air to run an engine. When it acts up, you need to determine what is missing. Without doing that, everyone is just guessing with your money.

True, though it looks as if OP has some sort of fuel pump fault, whether it be electrical or the pump is just starting to take a dump.
