My cargo tray wasn't further out than the tailgate on my 150. 2003 Ford Escape with a custom hitch tucked in so the tray was inches from the bumper. When it's dark, some people can't see dark things without reflectors or lighting facing them. Especially those saddled with sad headlamps. Or old vehicles that came with sad headlamps that now are just barely moonbeams.

Too bad Hell-Ya and Hitch Helper are no more, would be great solutions for carrying long loads in the bed.
