Door panel Hydro Dipping

I'd say dip the stereo surround and it will break it up a bit, without being too much. Then all the chrome silver/gold can tie in the doors and dash. This has perked my interest in hydro dipping.

That looks really cool! I agree, just the door panel looks odd with the handle and surround, but once viewed as a whole interior, it looks great! I love seeing the different themes and styles people come up with to individualize interiors. It seems like most people spend so much time/money on the exterior, and so few (short of the show truck crowd) think to turn their interior into a statement too, be it a simple understated style like yours, or a wild show-level refabrication. Nice work, and I can't wait to see it done once you match the rest of the dash panels and console!
To me, it was important that it didn't come out looking too showy or gawdy. I wanted to do something a bit different and like you say, understated. I thought about the color scheme layout quite a bit before pulling the trigger. I know it's not for everyone, but that's kinda what makes it "custom".

If anyone has any questions about the process or challenges I had learning how to do it, feel free to shoot me a PM or just post up here.
I haven't seen many projects like this, so the more that can be posted up about it in this thread, the more likely someone is to find answers if they want to give it a shot.
Worst case, if you don't like it, you can always sand it down and paint over it.

Do you have a regular cab? Was just wondering if you did the back door panels also.

How many sheets of the pattern did you need?

The film came on a roll that was 36" x 72" (You order in lengths of 36" and it is always 36" wide).
I pretty much used all of it by the time I did a few tests and messed up laying once piece into the water. I still have 36" by about 13", but ordered another 36" square piece just in case for doing the rest.

Well, mission accomplished man! I think the colors go a long way to helping with your goal too. The tone of the blue, which can be fairly bright by itself and would have been just a bit too much by itself IMO, is cut nicely with the black of the dipped design, helping to keep it darker overall to help it blend with the black of the door panel. It adds interest to an otherwise blank area, and doesn't overpower anything. I like the way you think, sir!
Thank you!
