Custom gun compartments anyone?

No. Most thieves do not research specific car forums before going out and breaking into specific vehicles.
Most thieves are opportunistic and break into whatever car they come across when they feel the risk is minimal.
The chances of an F-150 specific car thief researching everything about F-150's before going out and specifically looking for 09-14 F-150's to break into are zero.
I know people that own F-150's and didn't know these seats fold down. I didn't know about it until I stumbled across it on this thread.
So yeah, it would be a miracle for a car thief to know about this hidden spot.
Now if they were to steal the entire truck they might end up finding it if they are stripping it down.

I am a lawyer and know the law.
Imho- any rig (like the one I originally commented on) that allows the officer to see the gun is a bad idea. It leads to unnecessary tension between the officer and the citizen.
In addition, it is my legal position that any rig that might give the officer the idea (correctly or incorrectly) that he/she has probable cause to search you or your vehicle is a bad idea.

You might know the law where you live, but open carry is legal all across the midwest states, almost a requirement.

I designed & built a vault to fit my Bronco for storing valuables, including weapons, wallets, & electronics. No, I'm not posting pics of where or how it's installed, but it's a lot stronger than anything you can buy, and a lot more concealed. The door is 1/4" steel plate, and drilling the lock won't open the door. Even if a thief managed to get it out of the truck, it wouldn't be any easier to open. It's within reach of ALL seat-belted occupants, and it's positively ventilated to reduce condensation. It's large enough for several laptops, purses, wallets, cameras, phones, AND guns, but it doesn't reduce the cabin space at all.

For quick storage, I just cut a little slot in the seat base to accept the clip:

But I'm big enough for a G21 not to print through shorts & a t-shirt @6:00 IWB, and it makes an excellent lumbar support, so I rarely take it off.
That depends on what state you're in, and you didn't say which one you're talking about. In Louisiana, your vehicle is an extension of your home. You can have loaded guns in your home without any permit; you can have sex in your home as long as you're not visible from outside; and until a few years ago, you could DRINK alcohol in your home, as long as you weren't publicly drunk or displaying an open alcoholic beverage container. Now, that last one is only OK in your HOUSE.
The point is: your statement only applies to a FEW people who might read it. So be specific.
Even for those who DON'T live in large cities with high murder rates, it still makes sense to protect oneself. Cops can't be everywhere all the time. And if you have a gun locked in a cabinet at home with the ammo locked in a different cabinet, and you're threatened by a criminal on the way to work - what are you gonna do? Ask him to wait while you go home & get your gun? There have been a few carjackings here in the past couple of weeks, and home invasions even in the rich neighborhoods. A few years ago, a couple went into the W. Memphis WalMart with 2 baskets full of guns & ammo, and just started shooting.
The real question is: where do YOU live that you DON'T need to protect your own life?
Louisiana tried that about a decade ago. They stopped after some cops used it to steal a new UNmodified car from the wife of another state's governor. I'm amazed any state has a similar law now, but I certainly won't live in, drive through, or spend any money in a state that does.
