Old truck had Browning tactical seat covers. Gun & 2 mags
between your knees on front of seat. But non locking

Nothing yet in the new truck, but its October in Mi. so I can get by wearing a jacket. I haven't taken any long trips yet and the shoulder rig Is pretty comfy, and easy to get at.

Looking for ideas for locking it up if I have to leave it behind.
interested to see what people come up with.

Galco holster
Springfield .45
Para-Ordinance .45

The problem with your design is the fact it is not hidden. If you are pulled over by a police officer, you may have an unnecessarily tense interaction.

Gents,

Not judging and please don"t take this the wrong way, but where do you guys live, that you need to have guns all over the inside of your trucks? Except for trips to the range, I never have my weapon in the truck.

I generally have one on me at all times, except at work, but that's because I have multiple state CHLs. I also live in a state that doesn't require me to have any other types of permits beyond that.

But for anyone who doesn't have a CHL or similar, a gun vault is an okay alternative. It's not rapid access but at least it's there. I keep a pistol in my GHB as well, it's never meant to be rapid access either, it's meant to augment my normal carry routine. Specifically since I don't carry at work, I don't drive to and from work with a pistol on my hip.

However, having said that, state laws allow me to travel with a handgun that has loaded magazines (used to only be handgun and empty mags, so during that time I carried a Marlin 336 with some 30-30 in the trunk of my Impala). It's just something that has carried over from when I was a cop. Always have something nearby. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

ETA: No offense taken.

Old habits are hard to break. It took me forever to get used to sitting in a car without a sidearm sticking me in the side.

The police aren't my enemies. As long as common courtesy is used, there's no problem. I don't think someone trying to do harm to me or my family will show me any courtesy and give me time to get my gun out of a safe before they attack me. So no, there is no problem with my design. BTW, do you have your Ccw, Fester?
