1979 f150 302 transmission swap
Afternoon,
I have a 65 f100 that has a half built 79 f150 302 motor sitting in it. It also has a 1997 f150 5 speed transmission that will supposedly bolt right up. I have no bolts so I don't know correct sizes and I don't even know if the clutch flywheel or pressure plate will work. Kind of lost here any help will be appreciated.
Mostly looking for-
Will it fit
What do I need to make it fit
Other options if it won't fit
Thanks!

Bronco II Nut
i have sort of the opposite situation....
i have a 5.0 from a 94 f150 bolted to a np435 transmission (from the 60's or 70's) with a bellhousing from a "early" bronco (1966-77). all in an 84 bronco 2 on 79 f150 axles.... make sure your flywheel is balanced for the motor. newer 5.0 uses a 50 oz imbalance, whereas old 302's have a 28 oz (my numbers may be a little off, but i do know they are different depending on year.)
my swap is only about half done, i have not quite figured out how to convert from a linkage clutch to hydraulic (also opposite of your situation).
but if the transmission was originally hooked to a 5.0, you should not have a problem physically bolting them together. for bolts, measure the depth of each hole, and don't get anything longer than that. for bolt diameter, find a handfull of bolts that look like they will fit, and trail and error.
other options? maybe a t5 trans from a 302/5.0 mustang and the cable-clutch system.
sorry, not much help, but its what i got to give.
