Yes or No to navigation???

Sounds like we are using our nav for different purposes, you are using it like most people, to find POIs that should be in the system. I am using it to mark custom POIs (no adresses) and return back to them years later for hunting/fishing purposes. Almost like saving your fishing spots on your fish finder. I am not worried about getting out of date because what I need is roads which have been there 100 yrs and they surely aren't adding any new ones in the dakotas where I hunt.
There must be someone out there that uses their Nav the same as me? Does Google Maps work for my application?

I've used my nav like that...like to mark my house that it didn't have in the system. My street wasn't even in the system and has been there 3 years.
Yes, you can do the same with Google, but I'm not sure how it would work via Android Auto when it's available. I haven't tried that on my wife's car yet.

What's your opinion on the navigation system in the new F150s? When test driving the other day the salesman asked if I needed navigation. I told him it would be nice but wouldn't be a deal breaker either.
I have this little thing called Google Maps on my phone which I have used on every trip for the past however many years. My poor TomTom has not seen the outside of the console since I don't no when.
I've read about the built in nav not being very accurate and choosing extra long routes. Can anyone attest to this? Can you turn it on and adjust routes/destinations while driving, or is it one of those things where you cant do anything unless the truck is in park? Also apparently it seems it costs a pretty penny when any updated maps come out. Would I be better off just getting a newer stand alone GPS with lifetime map updates, or stick with my phone which has only failed me...................... never. TIA!

built in nav sucks
I've got a 2016 Platinum with built in nav. It's slow. Doesn't give turn warnings till it's almost to late. when i'm on a freeway feeder road it insists that I turn right to get on the freeway.
I've got a 7" garmin with free map updates for life. I just need to fabricate a dash mount for it and forget I have built in Nav.
Never had a functioning built in Nav system before, and I guess I still don't.

I like my Lariart in fact my last three fords have all been a Lariart edition and the last two had the nav in them. I think it's a cool feature, but my google maps on my Galaxy S7 works a lot better in fact we went to dinner the other night and put the address in my truck nav and after following the directions it took to near the correct address and then next thing I know I'm going in circles because I was listing to the nav, so my wif puts the address into the phone and we are about a half mile from where we needed to go.
I haven't gotten my truck with sync 3 yet but I still have a myfordtouch vehicle and I like the in car nav better than phones. First the in car nav has the speed limit displayed, so anytime I'm out of town and in an unfamiliar place I can check what the speed limit is. Second, when I get a phone call or have to restart my phone or something it's nice to not lose navigation. Third, and this is with sync 3 only, it's nice to have a constant map up. With MFT I'd have to tap on the nav to do this and then I'd only get a tiny little line that alternates between the station I'm on and the artist, but with sync 3 I can see a little map along with all the music info I'd also want to see. My gf's hyundai is like that too and it makes me wonder why other manufacturers have the less optimal layouts.
But if I had a different job and didn't travel as much in places I'm not familiar with I'd probably go without nav. My brother uses directions like twice a year so a nav system doesn't make sense, but I'll use it at least several times a month and usually more, so it's worth it to me.

I have built in nav and it has never actually worked other than taking me home. I manually type in an address and it never works. Im probably doing it wrong. Sometimes Ill use the voice command and I dictate the address and it doesnt recognize it. So im stuck using my phone.

Used my factory navigation during my two trips covering close to 5,000 miles this month. Better than the Ram Limited system I got rid of for the F150 and equal to my Corvette's. It rerouted me around a couple traffic incidents (one construction delays and the other a crash). I have yet to have it not "find" a location I'm looking to drive to. Turn prompts give me plenty of warning.

Nice try.... Didn't want the adaptive cruise, blind spot is OK on the truck but you don't need it when the top's down 90%+ of the time when I drive it. 360° cameras are for younger eyes (the screen size is too small) plus I could back 70' of tractor trailer into spaces with a foot of room on each side. I don't need the 3 forward facing cameras on the Corvette because I back into parking spots. Those things for sure don't make me want to use the truck over the car..

The 10% of the time when there is a downpour of rain, and visibility is poor, in Florida would be a problem with a vette......Don't feel bad, the Sierra, or Silverado don't have these features either!
