I used to think the same way. However that brown leather looks awesome in the KR and I saw the LED lights in person on a platinum and it looked Incredible!

Otherwise go with the nicer one, you're wife will probably like the nicer stuff anyway.
Base curb weight of a Supercrew 4x4 w/ ecoboost is 2,223 kg or 4,925 lbs. What is adding all this weight to the truck over what's listed on Ford.com to get you to 2510 kgs or 5,533 lbs. hard to believe leather seats and a few extra cosmetic bells and whistles puts on 500lbs worth of weight

Seems like an XLT would fit all of these criteria except for leather. 6.5' bed is an option and bucket seats are available with the sport package, which is definitely my preference in an XLT or Lariat.

Some of those doo-dads make sense depending on what YOU want in a truck

Yeah, the leather looks really nice and the LED headlamps are SWEET!! However, I imagine aftermarket LED headlamps will be available soon if not already available.

I have similar needs to yours other than my truck must work 5 days a week hauling a single axle work trailer. On weekends I haul snowmobile on a trailer, 20'TT, haul firewood loaded as high as the roof, haul my quad hunting,Throw my 12 aluminum fishing boat in the box and go into the mountains. My truck is not a show queen and gets a work out although I don't abuse it either. Price also weighs in and yes I could afford a lariet if I wanted one bad enough. There are some creature comfort s I want but can make do.With all that said the truck I am about to order tomorrow is the xlt 302a 6.6" 4×4 crew Blue Flame 5.0 3.73 TT mirrors, brake control, sport package (tired of chrome and like buckets )kicker sub, wheel well liners and bed liner.
I will miss the auto 4x4 and auto climate control, easy down tailgate, corner step in bumper on multiple current 14 silverado. There's always a trade off.At the end of the day I can't justify the extra cash for a lariet.
