Not unusual, though not typical. Ford's ordering and scheduling process is extremely complex. The right combination of trim and features could speed it up. There are all kinds of things that can delay a build. For instance, the union has all kinds of requirements (like only a certain number of moonroofs per hour). So you can see how those could impact certain builds, while other builds are scheduled quickly and flow swiftly through the plant.

Um, no we don't. There is no language in the contract about build requirements.

This is directly from our contract:

That's nice. However, I am telling you there are union agreements in place that govern things like this. It is all part of the algorithm that goes into the production scheduling.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/09/30/news.../f-150-strike/

"Most auto plants have both a local labor agreement as well as a national agreement that covers all of the automaker's U.S. operations. The national agreement is typically what determines whether or not the UAW goes on strike. But individual plant strikes over local issues are not unheard of, and that's what could happen this weekend."

Believe what you want. I actually work for Ford.

The union has no control over production. The roofs are installed by robots directly out of the racks. The company controls the robots.

Nooooooo!!!! Please don't say that. I need at LEAST 8 weeks for my new truck semi-scam to work! I can't buy my truck before the Ford Employee Pricing Event. I will save around $14,000! Dammit Ford, make me wait!!!

...and yes, my dealer is on board with this!

I'll refine my original comment to just say there is a limit on the number of moonroof vehicles per hour. I know the reason behind it but for the sake of keeping the peace I will refrain from further finger pointing.

The dealer can let it sit on the lot... just make damn sure they don't sell it out from under you.
