why when you can make 500/500 easily out of the 3.5L V6 block. and now that they've got the CGI blocks working well - I wonder how far that can go.

What's the rating on the new 3.0 Ecoboost in the lincolns - isn't it 400/400 - or something like that.

mated to 10 gears and a computer that knows where the torque needs to be by way of the foot sensor (throttle by wire) - you have a competition beating combination without going to other extremes.

punch that out to 3.4 liters - or whatever the next step in the EU tax breakdown is - and have a world beater. I mean let's face it - they proved a number of times the engine in the ford GT - easily crosses the 700 ft lb line.

The hybrid version is north of 450/600! Can't wait to test drive one of those!

Absolutely... Just what we need is a bigger engine that sucks even more gas with greatly reduced mileage. Seriously doubt with the CAFE standards that engine will ever grace a F150........

I can dream though
I agree with you, there's no legit reason why Ford can't cast an aluminum block version of this monster for, say, a future Shelby or Bullitt Mustang. Wouldn't be the first time Ford's done both cast iron and aluminum blocked versions of the same engine.

You boys got this all kind of wrong. Monster V8 more compact than a 5.0? This thing belongs in a Ranger. I'd be all over that.

Small block, BUT has a deep oil pan and integral oil pump and pickup so getting a shallow pan is not in the works without some heavy mods. Which means that, no, it wont be in a Mustang.

Yes - bring on the 7.3, depending on the price.
