Would you want the new 7.3 V8 in the F150?

Supposedly, it will fit in the F150 (and the Mustang). Not sure the reliability of the source but they claim the information comes from Mike Levine.

No power or torque numbers yet but it is supposed to be the most powerful gas V8 in its class...

No, my 5.0 has plenty of power and gets bad enough fuel mileage as it is.

jimhuntphoto 02-11-2019 11:39 AM

Yes, bring it on! I do not care about gas mileage.

robbieg 02-11-2019 11:56 AM

I don’t care about mileage but I like the coyote and it’s proven to be able to make a lot of power for the weight.

can i add forced induction to it? if so yes

I don't know where they get it will fit the mustang. Not seen that proven and I highly doubt ti would. The block is bigger than the coyote base block so there isn't that much more room.

It also would weight too much for the mustang suspension without stiffer springs - which then merf up the dynamics of the car.

Now that said - no I don't want it in anything other than a F250 if I was to shop an F250. I wouldn't even want it in the F150 - because weight, mileage, and towing capacity. Just putting one in their won't increase your towing capacity without the brakes, the frame, and the springs to take it. OH RIGHT - that's what the F250 and 350 are for.

ford tried this before..with the 6.2, and they barely moved any of them except the raptor

Thugzy 02-11-2019 12:21 PM

NO... and it wouldn't be a smart move for Ford.

1) the 5.0 does fine, has ample power for a V8 in a half ton... it revs up fast and smooth... a big pushrod engine would give opposite
2) the 3.5EB is perfect for the heavy haul and loads... that's why it replaced the old 6.2.
3) it would be heavy in the front end further deteriorating the already decent handling

Bigger heavier low revving "truck" engines don't always mean better.

I don't care about the 7.3, and it would be a challenge to fit. Now a 5.0EB... that's a different story.

In a heartbeat. Loved the 6.2L in my old Raptor and the 7.3 should be even better!
