I'm pretty sure they are talking about the wait time to change oil...

Had a buddy program SPORT mode as default, which disables auto stop/start.

That's a good question. It's certainly minuscule.

But next year when it's on every truck they build, it may help. Maybe. Probably. Perhaps.

It's when I approach the red light knowing that it's only seconds away from giving me the green light that I find myself feathering the brake pedal in an attempt to keep the motor running. No, I don't like to play this game every two miles. But is a solution in the works?

Select Audi vehicles in select cities, Vegas in particular, are working with a system that displays on the vehicle information system the time until the light will change. If/when this technology becomes mainstream, and it's likely to happen, then I see potential to incorporate that information into the auto stop system.

If your truck was better about only shutting down in situations of one minute(?) or longer would we still be discussing ways of disabling it on this forum?
How does the truck know how long before the light turns? I am confused by your suggestion.

I think it's more about cutting emissions than saving gas. Large metropolitan areas with lights at every corner if all vehicles had this it would be that much less pollution.

As of now the truck doesn't know how long before the light changes. However, the technology is in the works. Basically stop lights will communicate with the cars. Google Audi traffic light timer Las Vegas.
