Hey OP, rather than putting it in the console lid, why not put it in the storage well? There's room under the rubber pad for all the wiring and electronics for it and it would probably be easier. Just lay your phone on the factory rubber mat.

The new expedition has wireless charging and more or less the same console, I have no idea of the cost of parts but I feel that would be a much easier and straight forward retrofit.

Did this ever happen? I've been thinking of trying to add a wireless charger to my lid, under the leather to keep it hidden.

I don't think you'll get a response, he seemed to lose interest after selling his truck in 2020. Last activity was in January, probably a final check to see if there were any takers on the remaining unsold parts.
