Here is a measurement which will come in handy if you need to align the arms while tightening the connection to the motor shaft - minimal final adjustment at the wiper arms connection needed:

Default Wiper Transmission-----But wait, there's more

So, finally got the "A" series linkage, and much to my dismay, the wiper arms still don't engage correctly (still loose). So, now we go back to the original linkage took out of the truck. I had gotten a set of "B" series wiper arms to try, and they hooked onto the linkage. I had a Ford Parts guy (reputable guy from a reputable dealership) helping me.

We've started looking at the engineering number on the linkage that came out (the label). The number is JL34-17500-AD. However, all the new parts have a 17566 instead of the 17500. There's no explanation on the engineering number, or how that got put in the truck. Does anyone have any idea whats going on here?

I returned the part I had to the dealer yesterday - there have been a few similar complaints - parts guy said it might be down to the original build date of the truck as to which part fits properly. There was no further elaboration. At my initial time of purchase, the parts guy and myself had the correct part number for my truck, but build date never came up.

I'm having a similar issue with my 2021, the stock wiper arms fit very loosely. I got a new set of wiper arms and they still fit very loosely, but there are two versions of the linkage. I wanted to order the older model wiper arms to test fit them, but they are back ordered to the point where Ford won't allow people to order them so I might have to order the other linkage to see if my truck was misbuilt.

The 17566 base number is for the linkage without the motor, 17508 should be for the linkage with the motor. I'm not seeing a 17500 in the catalog, but it does pop up in a google search.

Just finished doing the wiper linkage replacement job for the first time. I had a Haynes manual for my last F150 but haven't updated to one for my current 2016 F150 Limited so started without having the full picture or list of instructions available. Anyhow, replacement is fairly easy. I grabbed an aftermarket linkage assembly from Canadian Tire ($79 canadian). A lot of the videos on youtube etc. don't talk about adjusting the wiper blades so that they "park" in the proper position. Quick tip....Install the new linkage but don't connect the linkage bracket to the motor. Don't install the cowling back on yet either. Turn on your wipers and then off so that the motor "parks" in the off position. Then manually position the wiper blades by moving the linkage and blades around until they are in the right "parked" position. Then while holding the linkage in that same position, connect the final bracket to the motor and tighten the nut. Then remove the wiper arms, put the cowling back on and then the arms back on again. You should be good to go now with a 100% completion. If you noticed "woodruff" keys in the wiper arms are missing or loose, go get a new set of wiper arms from the Ford dealer ($55 canadian in Oct 2024) . There is a recall out for this issue on certain years/models. Unfortunately mine wasn't covered but you definitely need those "woodruff keys" for proper safe performance of your windshield wipers as they transfer all the force from the linkage/transmission to the wiper arms. As with doing any repair for the first time I always manage to learn a lesson. For this one......BE SUPER CAREFUL TO AVOID PUTTING PRESSURE ON YOUR HOOD!!!!.....I was being careful and had a protective mat between me and the hood but then leaned in the dark to try to get a better look at something near the middle of my windshield and put a bit too much pressure on my hood as I was reaching across....Woke up in the morning and noticed I made a small dent/crease in the body line on the aluminum hood. Gonna cost me $200 canadian for PDR (paintless dent repair now)....I wanted to save you all the pain of that happening. Good luck.

Default Part number inside box different from what I paid for.

I thought I was buying superceded part number JL3Z-17566-E from Ford dealer. The box had the correct part number but the part inside was JL34-17566-AF. See pic.

Will I have problems using the part I got? 2019 F150 5.0 supercrew. The original part was seized at passenger side.

Pretty good write-up with pictures !!......However all 2015 & above years up to about 2020 F150 are under a recall warranty.......I got my recall notice about 3 months ago that said these wiper transmission linkages will be replaced under a recall warranty !! ...I have 3 2016's that I have replaced all the linkages on approx. 1 plus years ago so the dealer is going tp reimburse me....My dealer says no parts available @ present & they will cover my replacement costs for all 3 trucks??
Yes it is the passenger side pivot that seizes up on all my trks !!

Service told me there is no recall or TSB for my 2019 F150 wiper linkage. Today when buying the pivot assembly the parts department also checked and told me no recalls.

Ok I could be wrong on the years involved & I don't have the letter they sent to me in Ontario Canada to check... but I do remember me thinking it involved a mess of years & it would cost Ford a bunch of monies??
Maybe a Canada thing?? .... In my case don't recall sorry!!
Also a 2016 purchased in say late 2015 to get a recall of this nature in Mar. 2025 is a little unbelievable also.....as I also have 3 trucks that qualify for reimbursement !!

After installation I had a problem with driver arm loose. I packed with aluminum foil but wasn't happy. Measurements indicated the new part gear teeth diameter is a hair smaller than original.

I called Ford dealer parts and explained box part number and part don't match and inquired if that could be the reason driver arm is loose. He said the part number on the part is engineering part number and correctly cross references the JL3Z-17566-E to JL34-17566-AF for my VIN. He wanted me to buy a new driver arm. I tried to argue and explain my situation.

When he told me the price was only $13.xx I told him I'd be right over to buy one. I took the old transmission linkage assembly inside. We tried to test fit new arm, but it does not fit the old gears. i took out my wallet to pay, and he thanked me and said no charge.

FYI the new arm comes with the alignment lock key and the part number is different from original. Correct part:
Driver Side Front Windshield Wiper Arm #FL3Z-17527-A

Now I have to reopen and align the motor to the linkage.
