Beside that, half the responses on the thread are about surface problems, and the others are about the laminate. It's not just me. What is it, exactly?

And, one more edit, if it's on the surface it would be a "pit". If it's in the windshield it would be a bubble. Bubbles are contained on all sides.
I am not a window expert, but making an assumption I would say it is a laminate issue. No matter what it is the dealer will have to repair or replace as it is not an environmental issue. There is a some roughness to the surface of the glass, but nothing like what you see in the pictures. If that were on the surface it would feel like an orange peel.

Thanks. Life on the internet.

A laminate problem is a big deal since if there's one there's probably many. Those windshields are assembly line type manufacturing products, with sheets of glass and sheets of adhesive layer. High volume. Surprising that it passed QC.

I don't know how they test them, but if they don't put an arc light in front of the glass with someone in the driver seat, so to speak, they would never notice it. I can't see it when not facing the sun. But If I had to drive for any period of time with the sun directly in front of me, I would have to pull over and stop or just turn around. As difficult as driving into the sun is, this just magnifies the problem three fold if not more.

Sorry for the earlier bitch, just extremely tired, but no excuse. Sorry.

This is a no-brainer. Back to dealer for replacement under warranty. I had the exact same problem with a Ford Tempo many many years ago. The bubbles appeared slowly at first. A few here and there. Then one morning, the whole windshield was covered. if I remember. The car was about two years into its three-year warranty. The replacement was covered 100%.

Does the surface of the windshield feel rough? That kinda looks like overspray. Maybe from your ceramic coating?

One way to find out if it is on the surface or not(Ceramic) is to take a single edge razor blade and run it across the glass to clean it. If they are still there with no evidence of the blade going across, then its in the laminate. When I do a deep cleaning I usually run a couple blades across the glass to remove crap that bonds and wont come off with cleaners. Just hold is at a very acute angle and scrape a small area. You will know right away of there is a surface contaminant.

Took her into the dealer this morning at 7:30 am. By 10:30 am I got a call saying they are putting a new windshield in. Since communication is down between the service department and Ford today, they have been told to use their own judgement. Saved me a couple days of back and forth between the service department and Ford.

Service writer said it looks like **** and she would want it replaced if it were hers. Bad lamination issue.

Glad to hear they are going to take care of it.

Hopefully, they don't give you a windshield that is worse then the one you have.

They replaced foggy fog lights on my 05 GT Mustang, with even foggier fog lights!

It is just dirty and I am too lazy to clean it. I really pulled one over on Ford. Wonder if I can get away with it every time I need to clean the window?
