Default Windshield has thousands of bubbles in it

I noticed tonight while driving directly into the sun that my windshield has thousands of tiny bubbles in it. (Where is Dean Martin when you need him?) And those are the bubbles I can see. It almost looks like it was sandblasted.

Brand new truck, less than 300 miles on it.

I have to assume that there was an issue when manufacturing the glass.

I hope this is something the dealership will take care of via Ford.

When the light is right, most domestic vehicles have this, glass is porous. Get glass claybar then seal it with rain x.. it helps fill the holes

Get you glasses fixed, you are focusing too close

I've never noticed anything in any windshield glass on a brand new vehicle. With time, road debris will blast micro pits into the windshield. Clay bar removes shards and embedded steel, rock, etc. I then wax with carnauba to fill the micro holes. The washer reservoir gets filled with Rain-X all season fluid.

Another member here had that issue as well. Something with the laminate was bad during the build of the windshield. It was replaced under warranty if memory serves.

@Mudder Dealer did a ceramic coating on body and windshield. Not sure if that will hinder any attempt to correct the issue.

I may run it by Safelite and see what they say before I take on the dealer.

@Flamingtaco Who says I can focus? The world is just one fuzzy cotton ball to me.

Holy smokes. If that's an honest car wash with soap and a towel dry, then yea. That's pretty bad. Your picture looks a lot like mineral deposits though; we'll take your word for it.

I'm one of the dudes that had a windshield replacement recently; mine was delaminating though; not quite the same symptom that you're having. I'd still run it through Ford service though. Mine took about an hour at the dealer to get the claim submitted and approved. Took them two or three days to get the windshield in, and I left it with them for an afternoon to get it swapped out. Warranty coverage = Awesome. Especially for a $900 windshield. I just found that thread; happy to report that the dealer didn't care at all about it being tinted. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/growi...shield-419746/

If those are on the surface they'll disappear when they're wet. If they're in the laminate they won't. Rub some spit on them and see. If they're on the surface they wouldn't be bubbles either.

For those who don't know, the windshield is two layers of glass with a layer of clear sticky rubbery material in between. To hold the glass pieces when the windshield breaks. Air bubbles mean it's a poor bond also, which means a defective windshield.

Hard to tell for sure in the picture but it looks similar to mine which is full of mineral deposits (water spots). Actually I think mine looks worse. It is extremely hard to see out of when approaching direct sunlight. I have cleaned with a glass cleaner which did absolutely nothing.
