not sure how it could affect a motor not even available for sale yet. Have to figure Ford was smart following the VW cluster and did it right with this new powerstroke.

I still think VW got off light. The additional pollution generated for how many years from all those TDI's all over the world........

Im not sayong Ford couldnt have cheated, but this just seems like a blatant cash grab from a law firm that is essentially suing everyone who sells diesels in the US.

What SD owner really cares about this, they surly arnt going to test their own trucks. If it has tourque and goes a trailer that’s all that matters. Hell lots of then remove egr and def systems anyway. This is just lawyers trying to make a buck.

I think that the problem with the VW situation was that the EPA has overstepped its bounds. I realize that the law is the law, and VW got caught cheating, but it wouldn't have been an issue if the law wasn't overly-restrictive. I've driven a TDI - you'd be hard-pressed to know that it's a diesel in there. And, people have routinely gotten 50+ mpg on the highway.

That's my thinking as well. I would really like one of these trucks. I was hoping the EPA requirements would have already relaxed a bit.

Given that many areas exempt diesel trucks from emissions testing, I suspect that most owners will be more concerned about losing that exemption or having their registrations held over their heads until they get the computer flashed with lower performance software. There are thousands of emissions exempt big rigs spewing clouds of black smoke on a daily basis. I never lost any sleep over the emissions output of my truck and I doubt many owners feel differently.

First there is no independent lab documenting a defeat device on Ford's, unlike for VW.

Second, epa would not use the same size hammer on a domestic car company as it did on VW.......if there was a violation ( non yet proven).

Third, this law firm is likely going after all diesels that used Bosch systems.....guilt by association money grab.

Fourth, all diesel engines today if tested over entire performance envelope, will violate a little bit here and there. Thats enough for a law firm to squeeze out some cash.....it aint about our air quality.

Pure lawyer money grab...the EPA has nothing to do with it.

20B USD and a loss of the diesel market in NA is light? I think thats bad enough. Where I do agree with you is that the executives did get off very easily.
