i’ve had sunroofs on most of my vehicles. I’ve never had a problem with the single one (knock on wood). When my wife bought her newest explorer she opted not to get the moonroof because she said she never used the one on her previous Explorer. I hate driving it because it seems so dark. I think she even regrets not getting it this time.

The only downside is the loss of headroom in the backseat if you are tall.

Just bought a 2018 with the Pano roof. Never use it and wish it wasn't there. Sun is too bright.

Pano roofs and sunroofs are great for resell, and I enjoy having them as well. I live in Houston and the only time I can feel extra heat is July and August. I just keep the shade closed during those months. Haven't tinted it. I clean the edges and lube it with Keytox every 6 months and haven't had any more rattles. Takes about 10 min to do this.

When Ford redesigned the truck to the aluminum body, they had many issues with the moon roof. Lots of draining problems, kinked hoses, detached hoses, water visibly coming in and not draining, trucks parked on an incline and 1/2 the drains couldn't handle the leaking volume, etc.

Yes, it's a small fraction of the trucks sold each day. But a few years back, it was a very noticeable issue based on posts, many per day, dozens of threads. Today, much less so. Did Ford change suppliers? Or the design? Or the install? Who knows.

However, few take into account the weight, then buy a loaded F-150 and complain that they have way too low a payload to tow the trailer they want to buy (of course some couldn't ever tow that trailer with an F-150, but that's a subject for the Towing forum). So if you're going tow a travel trailer, do yourself a favor and understand the impact. For every 100 pounds you add to the truck, you lose 769 pounds of trailer you can tow (100 divided by 13% tongue weight).

You are lucky you didn't order the pano roof. They are a useless pain in the butt!
I have already had mine replaced once and lucky under warranty.
The rails are garbage.
Pat yourself on the back for not getting one with a pano because I sure as hell won't be getting a pano in my next truck.....

Hard to say. Luckily I haven't seen/ faced the issues many here have. Then again, you only really hear about the complaints.

Unless it's raining, mine is open almost everyday. I love it. Wife loves it. Kid loves it.

If thought wanted and didn't order or purchase, it will always be in the back of your mind regardless of people saying
don't need it or be problems. That is them not you. Best to get an option just for the fact of having it there if you
want to use it. Why I try to purchases as fully equipped as find or order one. Its there if want the feature

As far as a Problem, Last problem was on a 90's Lincoln Mark. How many years ago. All my vehicles, Trucks
and SUV's have had them with no problems

First thing I did when I moved to Dallas was get the windows tinted on all my vehicles. I had a Mercedes coupe with the sunroof and used it less than a dozen times over a period of 15 years. Open sunroof is nice maybe for Texas hill country in the early spring or late fall but the rest of the time I cannot see it. Also no point in having the cabin air filter with the sunroof open. Something else to have problems with water leaks or a failed motor or switch.

It is a great profit making add-on for the car dealers. I ended up buying a new SUV from the factory as the local dealers all were ordering the vehicles for their lots with the $1400 "moonroof" option.
