64 pounds translates into 492 pounds less trailer... Basic math.
Must be common core math then.
How much do those bigger tires so many people run reduce the payload by?

when I worked as a mechanic at a GM dealership, I dealt with so many sunroof leaks and other issues that I would never buy a vehicle with one.

it seems like all they do is leak, or break. and I know its not just a GM or ford thing. they just suck in general

Basic math...

Depends on the weight of the bigger tires and/or wheels. The bigger size also impacts gearing and that makes towing a heavier load worse too. And lifted trucks are less stable so that impacts trailer safety. Finally, bigger wheels may have a lower weight rating, thereby effectively cutting payload.

I live in south Texas, well aware of the heat. We just did not want or need the sunroof. Had one in the past on another vehicle, just did not use it.
We found out the paint color has a lot more to do with inside temps than the interior color.
Our truck has white paint color with black leather.

Congrats! There are drawbacks and risks with any purchase, but the apparent spaciousness to the cab with the pano-roof is worth taking the chance. I've two vehicles with that option and never had an issue beyond an occasional rattle.

I live in the DFW area, and daily drive a convertible Mustang (so I am a little biased). My wife's truck and her Transit have the pano roof, and we love them! No issues in them, had the Transit for 2 years and truck for just over 1. In the Transit, it is great, as it is her work vehicle, so the extra light makes it nice. I don't hear any extra noise from either really, but I also have the radio on :-)

If that's the case I would have a 2064lb payload.

So, does having less gas = a higher payload? Gas is about 6 lbs per gallon, so burn off 10 gallons, and you are right back to not having a pano roof! ;-)

My truck has an 1895# payload rating so I will use that number. After adding us, the A.R.E. topper and camping gear, call it 900# available payload for the trailer tongue weight.

A trailer should have 13% to 15% of its weight as tongue weight.

With a 900# payload available, (using 13%) that means that the truck can tow a 6923# trailer without going over the payload rating. If you add the 64 pound sunroof, that reduces your available payload down from 900# to 836#. At 13% that means you can tow a 6431# trailer without going over the truck's payload rating.

Subtract 6431# from 6923# means you have lowered your towing capacity by 492#.

All of this presupposes that you pay attention to little things like payload ratings and proper trailer tongue weights.

(If you use the 15% tongue weight, the towing difference is 426#, rather than 492#.)
