Anybody know what the tweak was? Just curious. My 12 takes a bit to cool, but not excessively long to cool the cab down in summer.

Is the difference just airflow out the vents?

It's the temp. My vent temps are 45 and in the '13 screw they bottom at 36. Flow seems the same but the compressor or w/e is louder

Interesting, is the condenser not getting enough air? I'm guessing driving the truck doesn't help? I'm an HVAC tech by trade so I kinda like to dig into this kinda stuff, so sorry for trying to drag out an old problem

I have posted this several times before in various threads. My 2011 EB supercrew A/C was the worst A/C I have ever experienced. In any vehicle. EVER. I took it to the dealer twice. I posted pictures of my vent temps after going on a 15 minute drive then parking in the shade. I was getting 55 at the vents. Dealer drained the charge and weighed in the exact amount of refrigerant per the factory recommended charge. It made ZERO difference. The Dealer of course said it was within spec. If I could not get the truck up on the highway for at least 30 minutes it would not cool the cab down.

I was so pissed, I only spent one summer with the truck. I bought my 2013 at the end of May (I live in Texas) to make absolutely sure I was getting a truck with a working A/C system. (I bought the 2011 in January of 2012) The 2013 performs much better. The condenser fans sound like a WWII P-38 lightning at take-off when ambient temps outside are high, but the discharge temp is at least in the lower 40 degree range after a short time. But I have monitored the vent temps, and as soon as it gets around 42 degrees at the vents, the compressor just cycles and keeps it there. I assume as a fuel savings measure. Along with the cooled seats, it is enough to keep the Texas heat at bay. But I still feel as though it could be better. Mainly because my 2013 still does not hold a candle to the fleet of Chevy trucks my work owns. Any year Chevy we have, flat out freezes you out of the cab with vent temps deep into the 30's........

I will never get why a seeming select few need 40 to 50 degree temps pumping inside their cab. You may have health issues as opposed to Ford having mechanical issues - not a joke either (get that blood pressure checked). I've lived in humid Southern climates before here in CA and never a problem with either the 2005 or 2008 in keeping with nasty and muggy Summers in Raleigh or dry heat when in/near Death Valley. I'm sure there are some genuine failures out there, but there are also people that create their own drama. These trucks are tested for Alaskan chills and Arizona scorchers; one of the strengths in American vehicles: excellent HVAC.

If you're wearing long sleeves and pants/slacks in Summer because work dictates such dress; it's 90+ outside and you're sweating in the cabin, despite the A/C being cranked, then you have a legit gripe - no argument there.

I have been in the HVAC industry for 20 years. The only tweak that I know Ford did in the 2013/14 trucks was a condenser fan speed change. I think Ford realized they had a problem when ambient temps were close to 100, and the vehicle was stationary or moving slowly in heavy traffic. The fix was to increase the airflow over the condenser substantially with a condenser fan CFM increase. This indeed had a positive effect on the discharge air temperatures while parked or in heavy traffic (which I experience every work day). The trade-off, is the fans are way louder in the 2013/14 trucks.

At 55 degrees at the vents, this means that the evaporator coil is not doing a very good job of dehumidifying the air. It has nothing to do with my clothes or my blood pressure. The A/C system in my 2011 was not designed with enough spare capacity to function in hot ambient temps in slow moving traffic.....a quick search in the 2009-present section will turn up dozen's of threads regarding the **** poor A/C performance.

My truck is a '13 Ecoboost and my A/C is no good. I have wrapped the line, had a dealer read the temp and tell me it was in spec, took it to a non-dealer mechanic to checkout and he found it was a little low on freon (that seemed to help a little) and made it to winter. Now I am starting to run my A/C again and with exterior temps less than 80 degrees, I still have to turn MAX A/C on medium for 25 minutes at highway speeds to cool the truck off.
I will hold my fingers up to the vent and feel the temperature change out of the vent several degrees with every cycle of the compressor and my fingers never get cold.
