Why spend the extra money for anything above an XLT?

Guessing this ^ and the $8000 gloves was a stab at the heated steering wheel. I can't believe it's even an option. Living in Canada my whole life, I've never even driven wearing gloves. If it's that cold, stop driving with the windows down. Or if you're in and out a lot, then yeah, gloves. If the cab's that cold, a warm wheel won't help, and gloves don't stop working. If they do, then yes, 8 grand buys a lot lol
I can see someone driving an old POS car with crappy heat that takes 30 minutes to warm up being a reason to warm your hands, but our trucks are warm within a couple minutes. I just don't get it.

I agree with PatioBoater almost to a tee. His logic/justification was similar to mine in moving up to a Lariat 502A. And, I also agree with those above that really like the heated steering wheel. Like Adaptive CC, until you have it, you don't know how handy (yes - pun intended) of an option it is. And then you realize it's REALLY nice to have!

Hang on to your hat.....pretty soon there will be a bunch of Ford Ranger guys saying they can't understand why anyone would want or need anything bigger than a Ranger!

What can I say? I've grown old and soft and I'm okay with that.

Got it because I wanted all the options, and I can afford it. If I could not afford it, I would drive what I could afford.

Rationalization is a powerful thing. The heated wheel is probably the only option I don't have on my XLT that I would like to have, even though I've never had a heated wheel on any vehicle before. It's always been cold every winter, and I haven't been inconvenienced yet by not having a heated steering wheel. I definitely wasn't willing to pay the cost to jump to a Lariat just to have it.
I've read the thread on this forum about adding the heated wheel. It's relatively easy to DIY, and I figure my cost would be about $400. Definitely doable. Still, I wasn't sure if I cared about it enough to actually go out and do it. I have plenty of other things to do.
Ultimately, I decided I didn't care. At Christmas, I took the $500 I might have spent doing it and donated it to the local homeless shelter. Now when I get in the truck on a cold morning and touch the steering wheel, I'm reminded that I might have cold hands for a few minutes, but somebody else has a full belly and shoes to wear. And in a few minutes, the steering wheel is warm. That works for me. YMMV.
