I was thinking the same thing. Looked at both a 17 & 18 XLT and Lariat. The XLT was much nicer than my current Lariat, aside form the leather seats.

You’re comparing a 10 year old truck to a new one...what did you expect?

Well, after that, my top four reasons for purchasing a higher trim level are:

1. Safety
2. Convenience
3. The driving experience
4. Her riding experience
Can't argue with those points.

Remember this. Happy wife, happy life.

I had a good laugh at his comment too.

I didnt read this thread so excuse me if this has been said but i see this on other forums too and guys try to justify their lower models by saying they dont need the extras but can afford them and then in another thread theyre asking how to add the feature they dont need lol Yeah a platinum might be over kill for a work truck but if you can afford one theres no reason to deny yourself the luxuries of it haha

I will say that it sure is interesting to see how we all think about these things. In many cases it's not about the truck at all... but very enlightening.

The point I am making is that you no longer need a top model to get a nice truck. I actually liked the interior of the (optioned up) XLT better than the Lariat. (other than no leather)

Myself, all I want is a good stereo, handsfree calling, good 4WD, none leather seats, good payload, good towing, and power everything. Since we are always around kids, the backup cameras we have is great for watching out for them when backing. My wife is the same, when buying her Fusion, we could had got the Titanium or the SE Luxury package. She didn't want neither but did want the Sport Package with the SE trim, and the 2.0L Ecoboost. That's what I bought her.
I looked at the Lariats and above, since I hate leather seating, they were out for just that. Wife and son hate leather seats also so her Fusion seats are cloth as well.

BUT while others like all the bells and whistles, I find them a pain in the ***. KISS, keep it simple, stupid. I had them on previous vehicles, I like to drive the way I want to drive. I don't want a nanny electronic system telling me how to drive, and from these forums, being set off by error on top of it.

I absolutely hate 20" wheels. With them, the trucks look like they should have hydraulics to make them jump up and down. I see enough cars with rubber bands on the wheels, I don't like the urban look. I like a smaller wheel with a fat tire, like trucks are meant to have.

I could go on and on but my friend just bought a fully loaded 2017 Silverado LTZ with every option available. He likes everything I hate, and wouldn't own a truck without these features. I call him a Diva, but hey, that's what he wants.

I have another buddy who won't drive a truck because their ride is to rough. He's an urban guy and I think in his mind, daily driven trucks are to country.

Ford has a truck for everyone unlike some other makes as Honda.

I like having multiple options to pick a truck that fits my needs and wants.

We are all different. I posted earlier in this thread about having an XLT and the Lariat features that I added. Here is a list of the things on a Lariat that I definitely did NOT want:

Leather seats (I hate sitting on leather)
Push button start (I have had that and don't like it)
Push button tailgate lowering (I am always accidentally hitting FOB buttons)
Dual zone A/C (The cab is so small, we have to adjust them together)

You're right. That is why I added them.

you realize that 20" truck tires arent the same size as 20" car tires, right?
