If you have had them change your oil four times in a row now I think it is safe to say that you don't normally change your own oil.

Up until I bought the F150, I did. Like I said, for the price Ford charges, I'm not sure that would cover the oil and filter to do it myself..... So I got lazy. Besides, I didn't think getting my oil changed at the dealer would involve so darn much drama

I let the dealer do the changes until the warranty is up. Then I do my own.

You cant have your cake and eat it too. You say you would do your own oil change but you cant beat the quick lane price- well why do you think the quick lane price is like that? Because they get cars in and out in like 12 minutes.

So if they let your truck sit and drain for 30 min, are you going to pay for another half hour of labor at $130/hr to have your truck sit on their lift and drain?

It's not about only adding 6 quarts, is about getting all 6 quarts of old oil out.

Maybe I'm old-school (even though I don't think I'm old), but I can't stand paying someone to do something I have the skill and time to do myself. Granted, sometimes it does cost more, but I normally end up with a tool out of the deal. Got a new table saw and saved a lot of money installing hardwood floors myself. As for the oil change on my truck, it is a pain in the *** getting the small o-ring back on, but the piece of mind knowing that it is done correctly is worth it to me. Plus I can check out other things while I'm under there. To each his own I guess.

Your car is on a lift for 2 hrs or you're in the queue for 2 hrs? 2 totally different scenarios..

So you’re saying I’m paying them to do it wrong? WTF? They do have more than one lift ya know. One oil change professional could probably do 3 at a time...... you get your productivity numbers and get a chance for each vehicle to drain.

If they can’t do the job right at the advertised price, they should change the price. They sure don’t advertise that they’re going to do a half assed job.

This does not have to be this flipping complicated.

Good point. The other reason why I’ve been having it done at the dealership so there is no, or less potential for any BS warranty issues.

My first oil change is coming up, and like others I like to do this stuff myself. I'm worried about the warranty issues too, so I keep all my receipts, and then I'm going to make a short video of myself, the VIN on the truck, the old oil coming out, and the new oil going in. Old filter coming off, and new filter going on. Maybe overkill, but what the heck.
