Default Why no 2.7 EB available in Platinum & KR?

Ford is claiming the engine is GTG with lots of power etc, why not an option in the higher trim levels?

Probably has something to do with the extra weight in the higher end models and working the turbos too hard leading to early failure.

same reason you couldn't get say a 3.7 in a higher level 2014 model. Why would you want a base motor in a high level truck?

The 5.0 is the base engine in the KR and Platinum, the only upgrade available is the 3.5L EB.. Simply packaging...

yep, it's all marketing and packaging, nothing to do with extra weight and options.

The 2.7tt gets terrible economy when pushing above 5000#. The latest pickuptrucks.com article hints at this. The V-8 is a better choice at that point. This was true for the 3.5tt last time when rolling on 20" wheels and pushed above 6000 lbs. Just the nature of the engine.

The 2.7 liter Ecoboost isnt capable of all 2015 F150s. The Supercrew I intend to get which is the 6.5 box with 4x4 isnt capable of handling the 2.7 liter engine and most of them with the ecoboost have the 3.5 liter Ecoboost engine. And I plan to get either the XLT or the Lariat.

At that price point practicality goes out the window. You want the options, the badges, the prestige and as many horses as you can get pushing it through the privileged world you live in.

Ok, that was tongue-in-cheek, I don’t know why they don’t offer it.

They don't even offer it in the XL if you want a crew cab, 6.5' bed, and 4x4. You engine options there: 5.0 or...5.0

Ugh. I get that it was tongue in cheek, but man, this whole "check your privilege" thing that's going around brings my blood pressure up. Since when is hard work, smart life decisions and refusing to quit something to be embarrassed about?

Back on topic, I agree with the packaging deal. I would however like to see how a 2.7EB performs in a "heavy" truck. At what weight or option level do the MPG numbers drop if at all.
