Default why do people buy 5-1/2ft bed when there is 6-1/2?

Just curious if people actually prefer the smaller bed or do they just buy whats on the lot?

Some people don't need that extra foot. Having a longer truck gets old. If I need to pull around anything bigger I'll pull my trailer. Different strokes for different folks.

Easier to park/tighter turn radius there for "better" off road . And I also imagine cheaper. That's just some ideas I just thought of off the top of my head. I would personally go for the larger bed.

As above.
My short bed has done everything I needed so far, and I dont feel the need to bash long bed owners either...

My truck is a commuter truck for the most part, I don't use the bed all that often and never 'need' it any longer (though sometimes it could make it easier)

I use the bed for a pallet of grass sometimes, but I would have preferred the short bed. My exact truck was not available except with a 6.5 bed. It's not a problem.

As a person who regularly uses his 8ft bed daily I could say the same about the 6.5.

At the end of the day what it all comes down to is that this is America (or Canada) and we are free to do whatever the hell we want.

But if I had to defend a short bed for some reason.
>Ease of turning
>Easier to park
>Fuel economy

When I priced them out (14 body style) short bed was actually like 2k more. I got a 6.5' bed, but I actually wish the 8' bed was avaliable in higher models. I don't haul stuff often but last year's hunting trip had my bed full to the tonneau cover, I couldnt imaging being a foot shorter

I'm the same as most probably - it's what will fit in a 20' garage. Use the bed for hauling a lot and more would be better, but it's about fitting into the garage.
