You can buy $1000's below X-Plan. It is possible to get A/Z Plan pricing without being an employee.

I've been really happy with my dealer with both sales and service. They came in a little lower than I expected to pay on the first offer, also was very fair on my trade and quit the game where the salesman shuttles the offer papper back and forth from you to the office a couple years back.

I guess some are learning and some are stuck in the '80's car sales mentality.

I got a salesman that was a decent fellow, gave him the key to my truck to get a value and told him to bring me his best price or I was out the door. The sales manage sent him out without my keys and an offer sheet that was obscene, or at least bad enough to let me know we weren't in the same ballpark. He said he'd go back and get a better price to which I responded the only thing he was going to bring back was my car key. I wound up following him into the sales managers office and got my key after a few choice words for the sales manager. By the time I got on the show room floor I was surrounded by 5 employees, including the general manager, trying to save a sale, I kept telling them we were so far apart and the only thing I wanted was to leave, it got loud and heated. By the time I got to my truck there were a couple more guys there trying to save the sale. After I was finally allowed to leave I wasn't more than 3 miles from the dealership and the general manager called and he was $500 less than the out the door price I had in mind and $8,000 less than the sales managers proposal. Money is money so I put my feelings aside and bought the truck. Here I am 6 weeks later with a nice truck but I'm having a hard time falling in love with it because of the way I was treated by the sales manager. I've taken all the dealership logos off the truck and outside of the free oil change and warranty work I don't think I'll darken the premises of that dealership again. Hopefully I'll get over this and enjoy my truck, only time will tell.
Because their goal is to squeeze every red cent out of the sale as they can. Anyway they can. Including the sales price, add-ons, trade value, etc.

Man the dealer treated me terribly how come they are like this, I hate the way they do business....but I still bought the truck

Well, when you reward a ****ty dealer with your business, why would they change? There are plenty of Ford dealers out there & you are making a major purchase, if you have to drive an hour or so to make the purchase from a better dealer, do it. Otherwise OP, you are part of the problem because after all the **** they gave you, you still rewarded them with a sale vs taking your business elsewhere

The only advertised incentive(s) available to me when I purchased was the $1,000 trade in assistance and 0% financing for 60 months. I was satisfied with the deal I got, just got a sour taste of what it took to get there. My long held philosophy is if you drive out in a new car you didn't get a good deal, you've got to determine how much that new vehicle if worth to you. A dealer will not loose money on a deal.
Thanks. I can/will use this as a general target, expectation off the price off the new vehicle only. I/we all know of all the games the dealers play when it comes to trades, etc. That is where the blue book estimates come into play. So for me I would expect 8% or so off MSRP and anywhere from 75% and up on my trade value based on its blue book value.

I tend to agree with you. Part of me said I should not have bought the truck based on my experience but I've learned not to cut off my nose to spite my face and what I paid was dead on what I felt was a good price. I kept my last truck for 12 years and this may be the last truck I ever buy. I have said I was going to use my social security check to buy a new vehicle and I started getting social security so I was going to buy a truck anyhow and this was as good a deal as any. My main gripe was with the sales manager, not only was he abusing me, he makes the salesmen stand out front in 100 degree weather without any shade waiting for someone to show up and when the salesman brings out an offer like that he wasn't doing the company, salesman or customer any favors. I had pretty much moved on and gave my survey from Ford to the salesman to fill out so he could give himself a good evaluation. I have just received a follow up phone survey about my experience which opened this old wound. I gave kudos to the salesman and general manager and blasted the sales manager.

Are you saying that you can negotiate a price equal to A/Z Plan, or do you know of some other loophole in the A/Z guidelines?

The only other way i know of is Ford sometimes gives employees additional pins that they can give to 'friends', and some of the Ford boards seem to be full of folks trying to beg an A-plan pin from an employee.

If you know of another way to get an A/Z plan pin, I'm all ears...

Ford A-Plan and Ford Z-Plan

Ford’s A-Plan and Z-Plan are intended for employees (Ford A-Plan) and retirees/surviving spouses (Ford Z-Plan).

Participants can obtain a PIN by logging on to www.axz.ford.com or by calling 1-800-348-7709

An eligible Ford employee or retiree/surviving spouse may generate up to four (4) PINs per calendar year to be used toward the purchase/lease of a new vehicle for themselves or their eligible family members as noted below:
  • All active full-time hourly employees & regular salaried employees, beginning with date of hire.
  • All hourly retirees receiving a normal, early (regular or special) or disability retirement benefit, as long as any medical benefits are being received.
  • Salaried retirees who retired under the General Retirement Plan, including salaried employees who terminate between the ages of 50-55 and who are eligible to receive certain deferred retirement benefits, are eligible while they are receiving benefits.
  • Surviving spouses of employees who died while actively employed and surviving spouses of retirees who retired under the General Retirement Plan, or who are receiving benefits under the Ford-UAW Retirement Plan.
  • All U.S. Temporary Part-Time employees (TPTs) are eligible for A-Plan in the U.S.
  • Employees on an approved leave of absence, for the duration of the leave or until expiration of any medical benefits.
  • Employees on layoff, for the first 12 months of the layoff.
  • Employees taking a separation package, complete details on their AXZ-Plan privileges are included in their separation packet.
  • All regular part-time hourly and salaried employees who are eligible to receive medical benefits.
  • Deferred Vested Retirees while they are receiving a Ford pension check.

Members of the immediate family of the above. “Immediate family” means the following relatives of the employee or retiree:
  • Spouse
  • Parents
  • Spouse’s Parents
  • Grandparents
  • Spouse’s grandparents
  • Sons and daughters (including in-laws and step-children)
  • Grandchildren
  • Brothers and sisters (including in-laws, half and step)
  • Same-sex domestic partners of eligible active employees
  • Immediate family members of eligible same-sex domestic partners
  • Employees of approved subsidiary companies and approved affiliated companies as eligibility is defined at the time of approval.
When both the employee/retiree and his/her spouse are deceased, the surviving family members are no longer eligible.
