Why can't I get my radio or any audio to turn on?

I've had this happen to me three times so far 2016 Platinum 800 miles on it. I tried the resets and called ford customer care, they told me to turn off the truck and leave the drivers door open for 5 minutes until the interior light shut off then start the truck. After that it came back on. The other 2 times when I came out in the morning it was working again.

I experienced the same problem ... 2016 Lariat SCREW, 1000 miles, Sync 3. Audio wouldn't power on when pushing the power button, audio soft key non responsive. Sat overnight and worked fine today.

I have had the same problem with my 2016 Platinum 3 times before the first 1000 miles. Audio would not work at all. The first two times it started working after a shutdown and restart. The third time I had to reset the system. They need to get this fixed and enable apple car play.

My First Ford ever, and not impressed
2016 Platinum, two weeks old with 500 miles. Audio is gone two times in last two days. Coming from Toyota/Lexus owners buying my first Ford for more than $60K, I have to say this is totally unacceptable. My dealership experience with Ford is also disappointing... like others reported I really think Ford should do something quickly, credit back and give some incentives for such a joke.
Edit: Other than the radio, I do enjoy driving my Platinum and I have driven basic F-150 for years at work. Never experienced a top line F-150 that equipped with almost every package... at this price range I have to expect more from Ford.

There are some that will make excuses for Ford, but truth is they suck when it comes to technology, even after the CEO has made some bold statements this year about how they will lead and with a former CEO on the board of Google and current CEO on the board of IBM. Makes you really wonder if they can spell "technology" and why they still say one thing, but demonstrate something else every day.
What is the profit margin on these trucks in the $60K range? Maybe $15K to $20K - I'm just guessing, but figure that isn't too far off. I'm in the technology arena and it doesn't take a department very big to correctly write, test and deliver software for a system like this. Really no excuses.
I feel for you guys in the situation, but the old relic that Sync is that I have, isn't much better, it does the job, but slowly. I do think it was a nice step leaving Microsoft, but maybe still not where they need to be.

I have had this happen a few times and I have not had the truck 2 weeks. First time something went wrong was the night I took delivery. I had about an 80 mile trip from the dealer to my home and 15 miles in the screen went black. Only thing that worked was volume control and audio for the station that was playing when it happened. I stopped at a grocery store for about 15 minutes. When I cut the truck off, I got a screen reminiscent of the "Blue Screen of Death" a Windows machine produces on occasion. When I came out, everything worked fine again except navigation.
I took pictures of everything that happened and contacted my dealer. I took it in the next morning, unfortunately, nothing could be reproduced. My dealer already had the pictures I sent and asked me to document every time it happens going forward. Thus far, I have lost audio twice, had navigation faults a few times, phone audio over blue tooth does not always work, and Pandora constantly hangs and freezes when controlled through the head unit. I am not impressed with this system in the least bit.

FYI, I contacted Ford customer service through online chat last night. Basically, they referred me back to the dealer, which is industry code for "we don't have a fix yet." I suspect this will be corrected through a pushed upgrade one night over wifi. I hope so anyway!

The only issue I've had is the Sony goes into HD mode and no audio at times on the only HD station in the area. However the Georgia Public Radio station here get screwy and sometime has dead air (live carrier signal) or no signal (carrier) at all, which means listeners have to call Atlanta to tell them, since the engineers don't seem pay attention to alerts being sent by the repeater, which could be the situation for days.
My only complaint is if a station is putting out dead air, the radio locks onto it. I see no way to take it back to the standard FM signal still being broadcast. Anyone have a suggestion for that?

Well you can add me to the list of 2016 owners with this problem! I have about 1200 miles on my truck. Ran a couple of errands yesterday and after getting in my truck I set a location in my navigation. Started on my way and noticed no radio sound.
Pulled over after a while and found this thread on my IPhone to find others with same problem. I turned truck off and opened door for about two minutes and the radio started to work again.
Needless to say this is a very irritatating problem to have. I am sure this won't be the last time it happens to me after reading others experiences with the radio.
Curious, is this just happening with trucks built in March 2016?

Just wanted to chime in and say that i have had these same types of problems with my 2014 with my ford touch. Everything will appear to be working but absolutely no audio from any source. Always have to shut off truck and open the door for about 1 min. Then everything is fine. This is completely random and sometimes goes 3-4 months with out happening then will happen 3 or 4 times in a week? Of course you can never reproduce the problem for the dealer and they have never heard of this happening. based on this i would say it is not isolated to sync 3 or 2016 model year.
