Default Who's happy with the 5.0 and 3.31 gears?

Thought I made a mistake when I ordered my Screw with the 3.31'same. Don't do any towing and only light hauling. After browsing this forum there doesn't seem to be much love for 3.31's. Seems to suit my needs just fine. Anybody else?

I didn't haven't a choice when I bought mine.
I would have went with 3.73s. I'm going to drive my friend's that has 3.73s...maybe change mine out.

What would the cost be on a 4x4? Wouldn't mind a little more performance , but I have my Roush 'stang and a sportbike when I need that fix.

No issues here. Got mine off the lot with everything I wanted but probably would have been concerned with gears if I had researched before. However, I still find it plenty quick enough off the line and great on the highway. I tow a 19' boat also and have no problems. For me, any concern falls into the category of "So it wasn't an issue until you saw it on the internet?"

No issues what so ever with my 5.0 and 3.31 Tows a 3500 lbs enclosed trailer with little effort. The main thing with the 5.0 is you just need to get it up there to make power. It is not like the ecoboost motor. If I was towing more frequently or went to a much bigger tire, I'd consider a 3.73. However I got mine as a left over for a steal.

I'm down to three Mustangs & 0 sportbikes. Haha

I've heard anything from $1k to $2k.

That's exactly right. Never having been a "Truck Guy" I went for gas mileage, which is still not very good with my driving habits! Lol

I specifically ordered mine with the 3.31 and 5.0 for highway mileage. I even plan to tow my 3600 lb popup with two dirt bikes in the bed. I'm coming from the 5.4L with a 3.73 and a 4-speed. Both SuperCab 4x4s. The old truck pulled my setup with no sweat, even over 12,000' mountain passes. I did the research and realized the with the six speed and 3.31, first gear is lower than my old truck and 5th is more like 4th in the old truck. This new truck is 500+ lbs lighter and has 85 more horsepower. Although I haven't towed yet, I can already tell this truck is way faster/quicker/more powerful than my previous (which admittedly was a dog in the acceleration department). Plus, I've been getting 21+ mpg on the highway (75mph) to my old 14 mpg. I'm super happy so far. I only have 1300 miles on it, but so far, so good. I have a 600 mile towing/hauling trip in the next couple of weeks. I'll report back.

5.0 3.31 here.. but I have a 2012, but again, no complain. Tows great, once you learn to use the engine braking and manual shifting when needed.... and locking out 6th gear.
