I've owned one sedan (an early-2000s Taurus) that was a hand-me-down from my dad's aunt. For a free car, it was okay, but I would not have bought one (particularly given the lack of a long-item pass through from the trunk into the rear seat).
Fixed that for you.
The comparisons to the SportTrac don't seem quite right to me—a Focus with a bed is a unibody platform with a bed, not a down-sized body-on-frame construction. I can still see some utility and niches where it would make a lot of sense, but I don't think it would displace many full-size truck sales (which is probably why Ford is moving forward with it).

some of y'all need to get over yourselves.
seriously for my uses the transit connect makes significant sense and as a work vehicle it's great. Yes even the pax model as you take the seats out will cart and carry most needs. using that same platform base for a 4 door crew cab light truck does make some sense.
but then I do think it would take sales away from the ranger - I do think it would sell well in Europe.

You have to remember, Ford is a global auto manufacturer. A Focus based picked may not do well in US & Canada, but it'll sell like bonkers everywhere else in the world. Most urban streets and parking spots outside of North America are tiny, there's no way a full sized vehicle would fit or do well there. But a smaller pickup like the one pictured above, smaller and lighter duty than a Ranger, would be ideal for the labourer/utility driver around the world!
