Default Who uses Auto Start / Stop?

How many of you use or disable it? I'm new to it and I must say I am pleasantly surprised at how responsive and quick it is when I need the power under normal driving. I only have about 30 miles with it so I'm not totally sold yet. I get nervous about not having that instant power when I need it like yesterday. Also wonder how much quicker it will wear out the starter motor. Anyone have any "oh crap" moments?

There are a lot of very vocal haters of this technology. I can only assume that most of them are just Luddites and can't stand anything new or different.

I thought I'd dislike this technology, and that I would be finding a way to permanently disable it. It did take a little getting used to. I hardly notice it anymore, and almost never bother to turn it off. The only time I turn it off is when I know I'll only be stopping very briefly, as in bumper to bumper traffic.

When it does activate at a stop, releasing the brake pedal starts the engine before I can even move my foot to the accelerator. It's also very easy to just ease up on the brake pressure a couple seconds before you'll start moving again, and the engine is settled and idling when it's time to go. The vehicles using auto start/stop have heavy duty starters and batteries, and Ford's implementation strategy is very good.

This thread will no doubt spark another big debate about how ridiculous the feature is, along with lots of unsubstantiated conjecture about how it only saves pennies worth of fuel. But even if that was true, pennies add up; and across millions of vehicles, the fuel savings and reduction in emissions is substantial.

Honestly, I can find no reason to hate the AS/S system. It's never inconvenienced me in the slightest way.

I always drive in sport mode, which disables the start/stop and provides much better performance. So, win/win

We need Forscan to keep the last setting so it defaults to the last mode selected.

I believe it will disable itself in stop and go traffic, at least mine does. It'll turn off the first time I stop, but not after that.

I don't have it in my truck, but i test drove both engines that do and I didn't like it. My mother bought an escape, which has it and I like it. She disables it. Guess its just preference.

Literally dozens of threads debate it. Many are simply ill-informed.

Starter, battery, alternator, relays that are switching on and off, they will all be short lived. Not to mention a few threads where people have lost steering, and oh **** moments where they wish their truck was running in the middle of an intersection.
