Default Wheel spacer size question..........

I traded in my 14' for an 18' and I need advice on how to calculate what size wheel spacer to add. This is the first time I have ever modified my truck other than having the wheels coated on my black truck. My new truck is currently getting leveled with 2.5" pro comp kit and I have decided to powder coat the wheels black just as I did with my last truck. Im excited to get my truck back on Tuesday, because I'm throwing on new tires and spacers as well. I'm not too big on super wide tires, so I went with a 285 70 R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I love the wide stance look and would appreciate if someone could direct me on what size spacer would put my tire just outside the fenders. Any help is much appreciated!

Once ypu get the tires mounted you can run a level down the edge of the fender to the ground - make sure it's plumb. Then measure the space between the level and the tire. Convert that number to millimeters and add how ever much you want them to stick out.

Thanks for the info Scott! I've kind of pieced all of these mods together by using guys I know and paying them under the table instead of taking it to an Onestop shop. It's saved me around $400 alone just on the leveling and powder coating, and when you do that, it makes explaining all the $$$ spent on mods to your wife much easier.

Have you had any experience installing the spacers yourself?

I wonder if I could have posted that reply more times if I had tried....

I haven't used any spacers but if I remember there are threads that will tell you which sizes will work without having to cut down your wheels studs. I think it's anything thinner that 1.5" or 1.75" will require trimming.

To figure out if you need to trim the studs or not, measure the studs. If it sticks up past the spacer at all, you'll want to grind it off. On the spacers, MAKE SURE it is hub centric. Don't cheap out on these, if you cheap out you WILL eventually see your wheel rolling past you because it WILL fall off. Custom Offsets runs only BORA, I ran some from eBay. They were billet aluminum, grade 8 (metric 10.9) hardware, and hub centric. Just make sure whatever you buy is a good fit. I would run these, personally. 1.5" came really close to having to trim studs on my '07, and I probably should've. The only reason I didn't is because there wasn't much above the spacer (almost couldn't feel it), and the wheel had indentions in the back that made it not necessary. They pushed my 35x12.5's on stock wheels out past the fender (tires were significantly wider than what you're running).

You will not have to trim anything over 1.5 inches. I have them on mine. Went with the Bora spacers.

Thanks so much for the for the info fellas! I'm definitely leaning on getting bora spacers. Hopefully I learned enough to keep myself from having to grind anything down.

I have 1.5" Coyote spacers from American Muscle and stock FX4 wheels on my 2105 and the tires just come out past the fender, but I'm running 275/65/20 tires. No stud trimming required.
