Default What would you do if your truck was in an accident?

I have a 2015 f150 XL with a lot of goodies. I really like it. I bought it last Oct 15. It has only 11,000 mi on it. But July of this year I was hit in the side by a small van. The front left wheel was neatly tucked underneath. I was not injured but the damage amount to almost twenty thousand dollars. The dealer that repaired it did a pretty good job for the amount damage. There was a little structural damage but the dealer was confident that it will be okay. I don't know weather or not to keep it. I have these ??? in the back of my mind so I thought I would throw the ???s out and see what kind of feed back I get, thanks in advance.

If the insurance didnt total it, then i'd probably keep it as your resale value is now completely and utterly garbage as the history reports will show a major accident. In that case though i would have really been pushing for the insurance to total the vehicle instead of fix it as you would have lost less money =/

Your insurance company approved $20,000 in repairs for an XL? I'm struggling to see how this wasn't totaled.

They now repair up to 80% of estimated value. Guy at work's wife just had an Explorer repaired at $18,000 of damage.

The 80% is not a rule. Initially they were proposing to replace the complete cab on my truck that was wrecked, and the estimate was just shy of blue book. How do you replace a whole cab?!?!? I made it clear that I would not accept the truck back, and even the body shop (that was not on the insurance companies' list) told me that they would likely refuse the work because they would not want to warranty a project that extensive. Stay in contact with their adjuster directly and have honest conversations. That would be my only suggestion.

I believe the OP is stating that the work has been done already.

Does it look like before ? Does it drive like before ?

If not - I wouldn't accept it. $20k repair bill for a pretty new truck is nuts. I'd also try to get compensation for the lower resell value - not your fault someone crashed into you

Was it your fault or theirs? If theirs, make sure you get the depreciation value loss because your truck is no longer worth as much. If they say no, then you may want to go the lawyer route and tell them.
